About this deal

I've always enjoyed watching the hairy bikers on the telly with their show doing their bit with what they had or were able to get hold of, in various far flung places! Born and bred in Barrow-in-Furness, Dave Myers' versatile skills have taken him to some unusual places. Si King and Dave Myers visit a mother and daughter who take on a regal classic, and a mum whose American father and husband rely on her culinary skills for a heart warming taste of home. In addition they are encouraged to bring along their indispensable, old- fashioned, dependable and sometimes unidentifiable kitchen gadgets: potato peelers, soda streams, meat mincers, pastry cutters. Their celebration of family food ends up (as all good celebrations do) in a field filled with nearly 200 mums tasting and sharing each others' family-favourite cooking.

At the heart of each is the Mums Know Best Banquet, catered by three ''VIP Mums' who showcase a great family recipe that needs to be shared with the nation. Si and Dave have toured the nation hunting out Britain's lost family recipes - those forgotten gems and secret scribbles that have been handed down through the generations but are in danger of being lost forever. This beautiful cookbook brings together over 100 of the nation's favourite recipes from the second series of BBC2's MUMS KNOW BEST.I would LOVE a book of just 'the mums' recipes from the fairs ,I didn't manage to download many of them before the site became difficult to access . Bikers books, and although I won't be baking every week, I will be trying out more recipes in the coming months.

Whether it's fish and chips, salmon curry or meat and potato pie, Si and Dave explore why these have all made it into the hearts and recipe books of three mums with a story to tell and a family to feed. Each Recipe Fair includes a bespoke Hairy Bikers cookery demonstration and, in keeping with the village fete atmosphere, the day is suffused with lashings of foodie fun. At the heart of each programme is the Mums Know Best Recipe Fair, an event suffused with nostalgia for village fetes of your childhood, crossed with the Hairy Bikers' extraordinary range of international influences. January), but she was so wistful about the past in the Christmas special, the prospect of a second dollop of nostalgia didn't appeal. But despite its questionable timing and the dubious precedent set last week in the pair's mission to "rescue some of Britain's favourite family recipes from extinction" (they went to that culinary hotbed Scotland, where one mum made a vile-looking pile of slop described as cheese pie a recipe you'd only pass on to a family member you wanted to pass on), this was just the thing to warm the cockles on a snowy night.

The lads rustle up a summer berry trifle, while our mums treat the boys to such varied dishes as a Manchester tart and greek stuffed vine leaves.

It includes Si and Dave’s personal family recipes as well as their favourite recipes that they discover through the mums they meet and the recipe fairs they hold. There is nothing nicer than mum's Sunday dinner and the Hairy Bikers are on a mission to champion this national triumph. This beautiful cookbook brings together over 100 of the nation's favourite recipes from the second series of BBC2's Mums Know Best.
